Grant Applications now being accepted for the GNOF Exxon-Mobil Fund

The deadline to apply August 15, 2014 by 5:00 PM

 

 

Purpose:

 

The purpose of the GNOF Exxon-Mobil Fund, a Donor Advised Fund of the
Greater New Orleans Foundation, is to improve the quality of life for people
in Algiers and St. Bernard Parish. An advisory committee of business and
civic leaders meet annually to review grant requests in all program areas
relative to the designated areas. A total of $50,000 will be granted.

 

For St. Bernard Parish, the Committee typically recommends grants that do
not exceed $10,000, although larger grants may be made in extraordinary
circumstances.  For the designated area in Algiers, the Committee typically
recommends grants that do not exceed $4,000.

 

While priority is given to nonprofit organizations based in St. Bernard
Parish or Algiers, nonprofit organizations serving the St. Bernard or
Algiers area will be given consideration.

 

General Guidelines

 

Nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations that serve Algiers and St. Bernard
Parish are eligible to apply for funding. Organizations that are not
tax-exempt but have a fiscal agent relationship with a 501(c)(3)
organization are also eligible.

 

The Fund will provide for the following types of funding:

.Grants that support new, creative, or beneficial programs;

.Capital fund grants for new construction or major renovations;

.Seed money grants to help start a new organization which responds to an
important opportunity in the community;

.Bridge grants to sustain organizations experiencing financial hardship.

 

Proposal:

 

Organizations applying for grants should complete the attached Grant
Proposal Summary Sheet and provide the following:

.A detailed project budget and budget narrative;

.A one page description of the project to be funded, including strategies,
measurable objectives and a timetable;

.A copy of your 501(c)3 status letter, or a copy of your fiscal agent's
501(c)3 status letter;

.A copy of your board list;

.A copy of your most recent audit.

 

Applicants should submit their completed proposal (including supporting
material) via email to:  Isabel Barrios - isabel at gnof.org.

 

Grantmaking Schedule:  Grant requests should be received by 5:00 p.m. on the
deadline date.  

 

Reporting Requirements

 

If a grant is awarded, the Foundation requires that the funded organization
submit both fiscal accounting and narrative reports on the use of its grant
and the impact that the grant may have had on the community it serves.
Reporting guidelines will be established in the letter of award.
