Groundbreaking Ceremony held for Reconstruction of the Yscloskey Ice House

St. Bernard Parish Officials broke ground on the Yscloskey Ice House located
on Yscloskey Highway. The reconstruction project is part of ongoing
recovery efforts in St. Bernard Parish. Under this project, the existing
ice house will be demolished and replaced with a concrete masonry unit
structure elevated above the flood plain. The ice house will produce
emergency ice for hurricane recovery operations, and will include an
emergency generator to allow operation during loss of power. Once
completed, the ice house will have a production capacity of approximately 16
tons of cracked ice per day.

The construction cost of $965,000.00 will come from Community Development
Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds (CDBG-DR). The Project Engineer is H.
Davis Cole & Associates, LLC. and the contractor is Lou Con, Inc.
Construction is scheduled for completion in April, 2015.
