St. Bernard Parish sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a man
found Thursday afternoon (Aug. 7) in a ditch on the west side of Paris Road,
at Agriculture Road, in Chalmette, Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann said.

The sheriff said there was no obvious cause of death and that an autopsy
would be conducted on Friday.

A parish government worker found the dead body about 12:50 p.m. and then
called the Sheriff's Office, authorities said.

While there was no form of identification on the body, sheriff's officials
said that they believe they recognized the deceased as a St. Bernard man in
his 50s whom they had interacted with previously.
