An autopsy Friday of a man found dead in Chalmette determined that there
were no physical signs of trauma to his body, according to the St. Bernard
Parish Sheriff's Office. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office conducted the
autopsy.

Toxicology results, which could help determine a cause of death, are pending
and likely would take several weeks, according to the Sheriff's Office.

A parish government worker found the dead body about 12:50 p.m. Thursday in
a ditch on the west side of Paris Road, just north of Nunez Community
College in Chalmette, authorities said.

While there was no form of identification on the body, sheriff's officials
said on Thursday that they believed they recognized the deceased as a St.
Bernard man in his 50s whom they had interacted with previously.

It is the second dead body found in Chalmette in less than a month. On July
24, a woman found the the body of a 53-year-old Chalmette man on the steps
next to a rock structure in Sidney D. Torres Memorial Park.

An autopsy conducted the next day also determined no physical signs of
trauma and toxicology results also remain pending in that case.
