The St. Bernard Parish School Board hosted a parishwide Day of Reflection
breakfast on August 29 in remembrance of the ninth anniversary of Hurricane
Katrina. The commemoration was held as part of a breakfast for federal,
state, and local community leaders, business representatives, partners for
the school district and St. Bernard residents at Chalmette High School.
Nearly 500 people attended.
The board feels it is important for the community to have the opportunity to
come together on this date for the purposes of memorializing the losses our
parish suffered at the hands of Katrina, while celebrating the rebuilding
and unity of spirit that is so evident in St. Bernard today, school
officials said.
