St. Bernard Parish Water Facility to be part of WEFTEC Technical Conference

St. Bernard Parish Government is proud to announce a major development in
their efforts to restore the vital Wetlands that protect St. Bernard Parish.

Beginning this Saturday, September 27th, the Wastewater Environment
Federation Technical Conference (WEFTEC) will be held in New Orleans and St.
Bernard Parish will play a major part in it.

In partnership with PeroxyChem and VigorOx, St. Bernard is testing a new
form of disinfectant that will be a beneficial use to our wetlands. Visitors
from across the United States and other Nations will tour the Munster
Wastewater Treatment Plant on Tuesday, September 30th to learn of our state
of the art facility and see firsthand the cutting edge technology we are
testing.

The design of the Munster Wastewater Treatment Facility is the only type in
the United States where it is flood proofed for critical structures. This
design; in close proximity to the Bayou Bienvenue Wetlands makes it a
natural choice for the re-use of our treated effluent.

On Tuesday PeroxyChem and VigorOx will demonstrate and explain their
Disinfection Pipe Reactor (DPR) we have in use at the Munster Plant.
Demonstrating the application of VigorOxR WWT II as an alternative
disinfection technology to hypochlorite. The tour will include a walkthrough
of the plant and the DPR, as well as a discussion about the Parishes' plan
to reuse its treated water to help reclaim lost wetlands.
