Student Scholarships for High-Wage Programs at Nunez Community College

Nunez Community College in Chalmette, in partnership with St. Bernard Parish
and the State of Louisiana, is offering scholarships for qualified students
in their Industrial/Process Technology (PTEC) and in the Electrical
Maintenance, HVAC, and Welding programs. The programs are designed to train
or re-train the area's workforce for high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand
professions within industry with beginning salaries of as much as $50,000.

"We can even help those with an Associate's degree or higher attain Process
Technology credentials in as little as 16 weeks," said Ernest T. Frazier,
Jr., director of Workforce Development, "So, if someone has recently been
laid off or just needs to find a more self-sustaining position, this is the
perfect opportunity for them to receive the specialized training necessary
to open up a completely new profession."

Most PTEC and craft skills positions involve working onsite at various
manufacturing, processing facilities or large plants. Some positions
involve work outside; others are on the floor of the plant or within
observation offices within the plant.

Registration is going on now for classes that will begin January 20, 2015.
There are varied class schedules to accommodate most student schedules.

Please contact Don Hoffman at (504)278-6305 for information and application
procedures.

Veterans, women, and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
