There are re-enactments at the National Historical Chalmette Battlefield.

my understanding is there was 'no problem' its just that some people from
out of town had other plans. the landowners (Meraux foundation) and these
living history actors wanted a larger stage so to reenact most, if not all,
of the major battles of the war of 1812, including the battle of new Orleans
....... and they hope to continue such reenactments for years to come. the
organizer presented to the council and boasted they had booked solid the
hotel rooms in Orleans parish and about the restaurant reservations in
Orleans parish and wanted us, St Bernard Parish, to convert The Woodlands
private street to a dedicated public street for insurance purposes if I
remember correctly and wanted us, the taxpayers, to pay to bring the
drainage up to code...... there was something about The Woodlands being
developed as private streets because the developer did not want or could not
afford to bring that low lying back area up to FEMA elevations and street
drainage..... sure hope it doesn't rain this week

my concern is the property is posted by the U S Fish and Wildlife Service as
an Eagle Nesting Area closed to all entry October through May, but dont tell
the Dept of Tourism that

They've done battle reenactments in the past at the battlefield. So what
created a problem now? I'll bet Obama has something to do with this. He's
made his hatred for the British well known.
