This message has been sent out to ALL SUBSCRIBERS of the Woodcarver 
Mailing List by List Owner, W.F. (Bill) Judt.

Recent problems our subscribers have been experiencing with their 
subscriptions have led me to see a new LIST-SERVER HOST for the 
Woodcarver Mailing List. I wish to detail what I am planning, below.

First: Many of our community have had great difficulty receiving 
messages from the List, and even subscribing to the Woodcarver Mailing 
List because their ISP's have been blocking messages from Topica.com 
list-servers. The reason for this "blocking" has to do with SPAM. ISP's 
are trying to eliminate SPAM from their servers, and because topica.com 
list-servers have been identified as being the source of SPAM 
(unsolicited, intrusive, email), they've chosen to BLOCK (read: filter 
out) messages from topica.com. In short, among a growing number of 
ISP's, topica list-servers have been BLACKLISTED.

This means that our subscribers have had to request that their ISP's 
make exceptions to their blocking rules in order to receive messages 
from the List. Some ISP's are unwilling to accommodate these requests. 
We've lost a number of subscribers to this problem.

Second: I've decided to TEST a commercial List-server located at 
Pair.com to provide Mailing List hosting services for our List. This 
testing process will determine if "pair-list" hosting is reliable, and 
if it serves our needs as a list community.

Initially, ALL present subscribers to the Woodcarver Mailing List will 
be included in the "pair-list" List.
I will send out "testing" messages, which EACH SUBSCRIBER will receive. 
Simply ignore these messages. Do not reply, either on-list or off-list.
IF and WHEN I make a permanent transition FROM topica.com servers to 
pair-list servers, I will be sure to let you know, and will have 
support pages on the web for all of you to get up to speed on the 
transition.

Hope this gives you sufficient notice of the pending transition.
