WOW!!! This is great! Debbie you need to talk to us more often
about the Judt household. Won't Bill let you use the computer?
Maybe you should send him out with his friends more often...then you
can sneak in to the computer room. Make sure you delete your "sent"
messages to the list so he'll never know.
We hope we can help you celebrate your birthday here in Michigan.

>He may give the list his definition of relief carving, but his first
>experiences with carving is why I call it "relief".
>When he was a novice carver he struggled with designs, laminations,
>cupping, finishing techniques and all other aspects of carving where
>mistakes could happen. There were many times that a carving was
>"pulled off" by some miracle and when the hangers went on the back
>and it was placed on the wall, my Bill would release this huge sign
>of "relief", in amazement giving thanks that it had worked.

>For his first few carvings I actually believed that is why it was
>called "relief". To this day I know that this aspect is still part
>of some 'Unofficial" definition.

>Many thanks to all of you, for all the years you have been such an
>interesting part of my (our) lives,
