Hi Dennis: you asked: "Maybe this summer I will head off somwhere for
a one week vacation to take a carving in the round course. Any
suggestions?"

  _____

1. Who taught you to carve, if you were taught by someone else?

I started by taking a one day seminar a Lee Valley. ( Liv Barber was the
instructor) It cost me $40.00 for the day . They supplied me with a
small piece of basswood, their tools and they even fed me lunch. It is
a wonderfull way to start.
2. How many of you are "self taught" (which could include using
books,etc.)?
I have continued to take one day seminars on wood burning , Chip carving
and even a small totem pole. Maybe this summer I will head off somwhere
for a one week vacation to take a carving in the round course. Any
suggestions?

 3. How many of you started carving "late in life" (use your own
discretion)? Started carving when I was 44 (Just a pup!). I am now
48yrs old
