Heh there Joe---what a great message to us all about "perfection is no trifle
but trifles make perfection"-- The other day at our 50th class reunion(Meds
54) one of my old clinic mates, who knows I carve, asked if I would like to see
the carousels he had carved for his grandchildren ---of course, I said
delighted to do so & he brought in his photo album and we thumbed through just the
horses---I noticed one was "ugly" and with a small head and long neck (totally
out of proportion)---I said nothing--he turned the page and there was a new
head inplace with the "Ugly" one on the ground---I said well done!!!!-you've
learned a very basic lesson--- to be critical of one's work by standing back and
looking for a very long while----I added to this by saying--"of all the
"completed" carvings I have there is nary a one that hasn't been redone---he said
"you got to be kidding --I said that's the truth and it fits right into what you
were saying in your recent chat---Hope to see you in Evart and admire yet
again your work-----Hugh(skincarp)Thomson
