I have used fine line permanent markers made by MICRON in the past.  I  have 
tried several other "permanent" markers, with Deft  and have not found  one 
yet that will not run.  If you put the marker over the coating of deft  (a 
little hard to do) you can use it.  BUT the Lacquer thinner in Deft will  make most 
markers run.  If you use a marker to add lines you can  usually use an oil 
base finish over it.  But always try on scrap materials  first. Good luck.
