I just wanted to say thanks for all of the positive comments on my bear mask and for the wax suggestion.  I will have to give some of the shoe creams and Briwax a try.  I also found an old can of Minwax paste wax that I used on furniture 20+ years ago - still looks to be good so I might try it too.
