[Woodcarver] Gentle Subscribers: How can we revitalize this great and very useful list ???

    I for one, want to thank you for presenting this to our members - we do have carvers over the past 10 years who either lost interest or for bad health have dropped out of carving and could make (tools particularly) items available to beginners.  I hope this would catch on, particularly those good folks who have left this world and their spouse is left with items laying around collecting only memories.  Bless those who think positively.

  I have no objection at all to people posting For-Sale/For-Barter items on the List as long as the postings remain non-commercial.


  Commercial postings must ALWAYS be sent to the List owner (that's me!) first, so I can post them on behalf of the subscriber. This policy protects the List from commercial spam... yet allows genuine and useful commercial postings to have access to the List.



  So... if you have something to sell/swap/barter ... a tool, a book, a pile of carving magazines... even wood or supplies, feel free to post them to the List. But only non-commercial postings, OK?


  If this works for our List, we will continue with it. If not, then we will put an end to it.

    One way to revitalize this list would be to permit the posting of items for barter/sale or trade in a non commercial way.  there are many older carvers with workshops brimming with items that new or younger carvers would get much use of. There are even many younger tool junkies who have items they no longer need or use.  I understand the need to keep this list non commercial and agree that merchandisers should be restricted but how bout a forum that really helps others with things that they really need.  there is no place on any carving lists where this is being done. and it certainly would bring the list some activity. 

    when I joined this list some 5 short years ago, I couldn't get enough of it.  It was one of the best resources for me, a new carver.  What I do remember is that if I asked a question, 20 different people answered me.  so to the younger/newer carvers. please ask questions!!! and to the more experienced, please answer those questions.   700+members ought to be able to keep things going.
