[Woodcarver] chat and a gun stock carving question

And as it goes with someone asking the same question as I... Thanks Maura!
My son just asked me to carve him a gun stock but I think he wants me to
make the whole thing first. Is this possible to do and get the workings of
the trigger parts in? He said something about a thumb thing - ring (round
hole I think near the area where the thumb goes.. duh! I think) And then
what kind of tools are needed to do the checkering, and what ever eles? I
am waiting for Maura's answers too! :) Thanks to all!
