I like the option of the Large size or Originial size. There are times
when it is nice to zoom in and see the detail of the carving. I especially
like that in Bills DVD Books. You can zoom in and see exactly what was
done.

Re: [Woodcarver] SmugMug photo gallery...
Byron:
Thanks for the advice.
The idea of the larger images is, or course, to allow for larger/closer
views of the carvings.
Smugmug allow enough bandwidth for this, so storage isn't a problem.
Images that are uploaded to the site are converted into S, M, L and
Original sizes. The default, of course is the thumbnail (S) size and the
medium size. These and the L size are all smaller images. The Original
size depends on the original file size...
The viewer gets to choose which image he views... which is what I like
about the site.
Take another look and hopefully confirm what I've observed, OK?
Thanks for taking the time.

Bill,
I suggest you rethink web size photos. Community web site photo sharing
try to limit the photo size to no larger than 300Kbyte. Anything in
the near 100Kbyte is plenty big enough to view on the average monitor.
The larger pictures just eat up bandwidth with 0 gain to the viewer. In
fact many browsers have to be reset to see the entire picture on the
screen for 300k pictures.
I manage several web sites and never use any graphic larger than 200kbyte
and try to stay close to 100kbyte. Anything larger is just a waste.
Also, you must remember that not all people have high speed. A 1megabyte
picture will take so long to download that those on dial-up won't bother.
