[Woodcarver] canes

Good morning Dick, Try your local bar or tavern that has pool tables. They most likely have a bucket full of broken cues. (the bucket is the easiest way of corralling the sticks.) Most of the cues brake at the tip and are to short to repair. Be careful of the butt end, as some companies used pieces of rebar to weight their sticks. Or search out someone who repair the cues or pool tables. When I did that kind of work, I hade probably 300 old sticks. I used them for garden sticks mostly. Finely took them to the dump. Wish I hade some now .
Good luck on finding some.

Richard,

I got a lot of good input on where to get cane staff and it seems that the concensus is that pool cue seconds from Lee Valley are the answer, but my problem is that they are not available on line and are only to be had at the physical stores - part of the message I got back from Lee Valley is pasted in below:
"The product number for the pool cues is 99W3905 and they are $3.95 each, taxes are extra. Upon checking our system, we found the only stores that still have stock are the Ottawa, Winnipeg, Burlington and Downtown Toronto stores. Therefore, you would have to visit one of these store locations to purchase the pool cue seconds."

From Oklahoma, that would be quite a shopping trip. Is there anyone living near one of these stores that would be willing to pick up 3-5 of these cues and ship them to me? I would of course be happy to cover all costs. If so, please contact me off site at dickfaulkner at sbcglobal.net<mailto:dickfaulkner at sbcglobal.net>.

Or does anyone know of an on-line source where something similar can be purchased?

Thanks for the help and input.
