[Woodcarver] Reversing Motor Direction

Some motors have other wires, attached to the terminal within the
motor & these are for changing the voltage of the supply voltage.

Besides the red and black wires, are there any other wires coming from the motor and what colors are they?

I have tried to wire a double pole,double throw switch to a 1/4 horse motor I use to drive a 1x42 " belt used to sharpen my carving tools . I have followed the instructions that I got when I bought the switch however the motor still does not reverse . Obviously I am missing something ---has anyone wired such a switch .
