Kathleen,
As much as I enjoyed talking with Benoi, Nicoles work was my favorite of
all I saw.
Thanks for chasing down the The Legend of the Hummingbird. Of the two, the
version with the forest fire is my preferred one. I believe it was a First
Peoples (Native American) legend. Being that the artist is French though

Subject: [Woodcarver] MIKE: LEGEND OF THE HUMMINGBIRD
Hello, Mike et al.,
I almost forgot that I translated the Legend of the Hummingbird for
you from the sign that appears in your picture. It's kind of an odd
legend, I think you'll find. I think I like your version better.
It's kind of a small sign but I magnified the page a bit so I could read it:
----------------------------------
La Légende du Colibri = The Legend of the Hummingbird
In the middle of a hot and humid summer, a frantic hummingbird flies
trying to escape a lightning attack of 20,000 thirsty mosquitoes. He
takes refuge in a mosquito-controlled camp of nudist fairies where
one tender friend, not divested of charm, takes him under her
protective wing...
---------------------------------
Mike, your trip to Québec looked delightful.
I loved the works by Nicole.
