Calling all railroad buffs!

The Summer Concert Series continues at The Blue Ridge Music Center on
August 25 with the program "Life Is Like A Mountain Railroad", devoted to
railroad songs and lore. Railroad historian Ron Flanary will host.
Featured performers include Wayne Erbsen, master of a number of
styles of music including old-time, bluegrass, folk, traditional, cowboy,
pioneer, railroad, gospel and music of the Civil War.
His presentation will include stories, songs and humor mixed with
instrumentals.

Old-time string band, New River Plateau Railway Band will also perform.

Historians and collectors will share stories, memorabilia and music from
the railroad days.

The concert begins at 7 pm. Adult admission is $3. Snack stand on site or
pack a picnic supper - but no alcohol please! Bring lawn chairs or
blankets.

The National Park Service and the National Council for Traditional Arts
operate the The Blue Ridge Music Center jointly, with the mission of
preserving and presenting the traditional music of the Blue Ridge
Mountains. The center is located at Milepost 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway,
near the Virginia-North Carolina border. It is open 9-5 daily through
October. Informal music presentations are scheduled most afternoons, Sunday
through Friday.

Programming is made possible through partnerships with The Virginia
Foundation for the Humanities with local support from WBRF-FM and WPAQ-AM
radio stations and Bogey's Restaurant.
