What if any are the distinguishing characteristics of DPU locos. Cal Reynolds.

Attached are three pictures I took today, sorry about img 2709, for a west bound stack in Jonesborough, TN

All three units are equipped with DPU. Lead was 7690, second 7669 and pushing on the rear was 7669. It seems that NS

is using more DPU on more trains. Prior to this all I ever saw was two coal trains with DPU
