Dog Rides on Engine Trucks
The people at Gardner, on the Clinch Valley, were given a surprise yesterday when a passenger train pulled into the depot and a big shepherd dog stepped quietly down from the trucks underneath one of the cars and took a look around in the town, which was strange to him. After spending a few minutes at the depot he sniffed the ground a few times and started back to Honaker, taking the track for a thoroughfare. The story when told at the depot yesterday afternoon by Captain Moran brought out a number of other similar stories, one of which was a tale of a chicken which rode over 100 miles on a truck in the far west.
