I remember the first one of those new logos I ever saw.  I was standing at "South" Roanoke Yard when one of those things rolled by on a new hopper, probably in 1967 or 1968.  The fellow standing beside me said, quite wryly, "Well, it looks like the efficiency experts have finally found a way to save $2 on every new car they build ! "



And thanks to Herr Jakov von Pflummer for fixin'  up the cause of my grieving consternation.
