The HillBilly from Roanoke is still lost in the Norfolk megatropolis, but he be makin' progress.

Attached is a very good 1947 map from the Chief Engineer of the Norfolk Portsmouth Belt Line RR.

It is a civil map with railroad routes and locations drawn in (N&W, VGN, [old original] Norfolk Southern, PRR and Norfolk Portsmough Belt Line RR, SAL and ACL.) All the mysterious names which give me heartburn are identified: Colemap Place, North Jct, Tidewater and Tidewater Jct, Bridges 5 and 7, Eastern Branch Bridge and South Branch Drawbridge, "Norfolk Southern" Jct, Carolina Jct, South Norfolk Tower, Portlock, Providence Jct, Belt Line Jct and Carolina Tower. Whew !

Now that I have this map, you City Slickers won't be able to fool the HillBilly much longer. :-)

If I could ride ride any train in that area, it would be a VGN empty train out of Sewell's Point, hauled by a big 2-10-10-2. Viva le Virginianne !

And Thank You to the good and patient Mr. Harry Bundy for coaching me through my struggles.
