Y,A, J on the Abingdon Branch?

I'm considering 1971 as an option (my birth year) also...
 
There is an ex-N&W GP9 near here in South Carolina (still pulling unit coal
trains on the Hampton & Branchville) and seeing it made me consider that option
also.
 
My only N&W N scale steam is an old Bachmann 611 that my wife picked up for me
at a flea market, so I'm not too invested that direction.
