ClipMate 6.3.08
---------------
ClipMate 6.3.08 is the latest release, and is a free update for all
registered users of any ClipMate 6 version. Just download over the top
of your current ClipMate 6 installation.
It fixes several problems, including a problem with systems that
are waking up from suspend/hibernate.

ClipMate 6.5 - Coming Soon!
---------------------------
Likely to ship in September-October, ClipMate 6.5 will be a technology
update, which will result in an updated "XP-Look" to all menus,
improved database reliability, and performance. We're also adding a
translation manager, which will finally allow easy translation of the
interface into other languages, with no special tools. For more
information on translating, as it becomes available, monitor this
forum:
http://www.thornsoft.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=33
NOTE: ClipMate 6.5 Will be a free update for registered
ClipMate 6 users.

Windows XP SP2 - Looks Fine
---------------------------
If you are thinking about moving to the Windows XP Service
Pack 2, you'll be glad to know that both ClipMate and Darn!
Passwords run fine under this important new XP update.

Special Offering - Startup Guru by Lincoln Beach Software
---------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of XP, one thing that XP lacks (along with a good
Clipboard manager and a good Password manager, for which
we are grateful), is a good STARTUP MANAGER. Our good friend,
Harold Holmes of Lincoln Beach Software, has written Startup
Guru, which not only lets you easily manage all of the
various "startup" locations on your computer, but can even keep
stubborn programs from re-inserting themselves if you don't
want them to.
I saw a screenshot from a user last month with 32 icons in his
system tray - these programs were running all the time, taking
up resources and causing trouble. Is this you? Getting there?
It's probably time to take a look at Startup Guru, and re-gain
control of your computer.

We invite you to download the product and give it a try:

SPECIAL OFFER for ClipMate Newsletter Subscribers:
Save 10% on Startup Guru. To quality, download the
30-day trial from our site, and use the "buy now" button
in the program, or the link from our site.
Use coupon code: THORNBEACH to save 10% if you buy
before August 27!

Forums Now Open
---------------
Our support forum, including areas for "neat uses of the product" and
"wishlist", are now online. All are welcome, but please be polite.

ClipMate Tip - Strip Non-Text Formats:
--------------------------------------
The clipboard, and likewise ClipMate, can hold the same data in several
formats at the same time. For text-based apps like your word processor
and web-browser, this usually means that you'll have the same data as
TEXT (plain text, no formatting), Rich Text Format (fonts, colors, etc.)
and maybe HTML. When you look at the clip in ClipMate's ClipList, these
formats are identified with the "notepad", "fancy A" and "chain link"
icons, to the left of the clip title.
When you paste data into an app, that application chooses which format
it wants. But sometimes this isn't what you want. For example, if you
paste data into Microsoft Word, it may be in a different font/size/etc.
than the other text in the document. Word has a "paste special" menu,
to give you control over which format to paste. But not all programs
have this. So to put yourself back in control, you can eliminate
the Rich Text and HTML with ClipMate's "Strip Non-Text Formats", found
under the Edit menu. This will convert any clip to plain text,
eliminating the HTML and RTF components. Give it a try, the next time
you need to paste data, without the fancy fluff stuff.
