Hi all,
I was planning for May to be a relatively quiet month but it sure didn't turn out that way - there were too many shows offered to me that were too good to pass up. I hope you can join me at one of them!
If you can't, though, I do plan to have another Internet-based free live show in the near future -- you can help me pick a date by filling out the poll at <http://www.doodle.com/y3e3eikphtme6zff>. (You don't have to log in or provide any personal or contact information to participate.)
Here's what I've got coming up:
Saturday April 21 - SOLO SHOW (OPENING FOR LES SAMPOU)
-----------------
WHEN: 7:30 pm (doors at 7 pm)
WHERE: John Henry's Hammer Coffeehouse at the 1st Unitarian Church, 90 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608
COVER: $10
Les Sampou is a singer/songwriter with a real bluesy style. Here's a video of her playing her song 'My My My': <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0XP3R7ciDo>
I'm looking forward to opening for her, and to playing in the John Henry's Hammer series.
Tickets are available in advance here: <http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/235919>
Sunday April 22 - OPEN JAM / BENEFIT FOR STONE SOUP
---------------
WHEN: 4 pm
WHERE: The PVD Social Club, 71 Richmond Street, Providence, RI
COVER: $10
To raise some money, Stone Soup is having a benefit show at the PVD Social Club on Sunday, and to kick it off there will be a half hour open jam which I have been asked to organize -- bring an instrument, or just your voice, and join in! Last I knew, the full schedule was as follows:
4:00 - 4:30 Open Jam
4:40 - 5:00 Bill Monroe/Paul Pasch
5:10 - 5:40 Pendragon
5:50 - 6:10 John Fuzek/Mary Ann Rossoni
6:20 - 7:00 Founding Mothers [Joyce Katzberg, Kate Katzberg, Lindsay Adler]
7:10 - 7:40 Atwater-Donnelly
7:50 - 8:20 Bill Harley
8:30 - 9:00 The Gnomes
9:10 - 10.00 Closing Jam
Friday May 4 - SOLO SHOW IN SOMERVILLE, MA
------------
WHEN: 8-10:30 pm
WHERE: The Armory, 191 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143
COVER: $10
I'll be one of four performers in the RISA Somerville Songwriter Sessions this month with Bonnie Gordon, Joanne Lurgio, and Heather Rose. More information is at <http://johnfuzek.com/hear_in_rhode_island_events.html>. Looking forward to playing in the Boston area!
Sunday May 6 - EMPIRE REVUE
------------
WHEN: 8 pm
WHERE: AS220, 115 Empire Street, Providence, RI
COVER: $8
I'm looking forward to returning to the Empire Review where I'll be playing a song as part of their mother's day-themed show!
Saturday May 12 - J. HALLER & THE RUNNING COMMENTARY REUNITE!
---------------
WHEN: 7:30 pm (doors open 7 pm)
WHERE: The Stone Church Coffee House at the 1st Congregational Church, 280 High Street, Bristol, RI
COVER: $15
I'm very excited about this show! For this night only, I'll be reuniting with my old bandmates, Natalie Markward and Joe Augur, to play a set at the Stone Church Coffee House. We're opening for Natalie and Joe's other band, Anne's Cordial, a folk jazz band with amazing harmonies. I highly recommend this show!
Wednesday May 30
----------------
WHEN: 9 pm
WHERE: The Lucky Dog Music Hall, 89 Green Street, Worcester, MA 01604
This is a free show. I'll be sharing the bill with The Cannibal Ramblers and a couple of other bands TBA.
I'm not sure yet whether I'll be playing this show solo or with a band, but hopefully will get that figured out soon.
Excelsior!
So long,
