Hey all,

I hope you had a good week. As I write this, there are tornado warnings in eastern Rhode Island and parts of Massachusetts, so I hope you are all staying safe.

There are a couple of new people on this mailing list, so this is as good a time as any to remind everyone that lyrics and chords for a whole bunch of my songs are online at <http://music.jwgh.org/lyrics/>, with links to play them too.

I've also got some nifty shows coming up -- hope you can make it to one of them!

Saturday August 11 -- J. HALLER & the SILENT TREATMENT
------------------
WHERE: Sandywoods Farm, 43 Muse Way, Tiverton, RI 02878
WHEN: 7-10 pm
COVER: $12 / $10 in advance

Sandywoods Farm is a cool new concert hall in Tiverton, and I'm very excited that we're playing there! There are tables to sit at and people are encouraged to bring dinner. I plan to make an apple pie shortly to bring if you would like a slice.

The other band on the bill is BebeRequin, with Matt Everett and Rachel Rosenkrantz playing a whole bunch of instruments. They've recently been joined by a drummer, Greg Motta. The style is a little hard to describe; definitely kind of poppy a lot of the time, and they cover some stylistic ground but there's a definite unity of approach there too. I had a show with these guys last week and they sounded as good or better than I've ever heard them -- definitely check them out when you have a chance. (Such as tomorrow.)

Thursday August 16 -- SOLO SHOW
------------------
WHERE: The Salon, 57 Eddy Street, Providence, RI 02903
WHEN: 9 pm to late
COVER: $5

Touring acts Daniel Ouellette & the Shobijin and Elizabeth Lorrey have asked us to open for them, and Tania Alexander will also be playing. Daniel is always worth checking out; I've been a fan for years, but as he's recruited more people to join the Shobijin, and refined his use of video and other multimedia elements, he's really become a force to be reckoned with. (For multimedia elements, read fake mustaches.) It should be a fun night; come on down and you won't regret it!

Thursday August 23 -- SOLO SHOW
------------------
WHERE: The Roots Cultural Center, 276 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02903
WHEN: 7-9 pm [also, see below]

WS Monroe's been running an occasional folk music show for a while now and recently moved it to the Roots Cultural Center. He'll play some songs, I'll play some songs, Patrick Hutchinson (uillean pipes) and Armand Aromin (fiddle) will also play, and at the end of the night we'll all do a few songs together.

If you can, stick around afterward, as the Roots has also booked the K.C. Moaners Jug Band to play starting at 9 pm!

Sunday August 26 -- SOLO SHOW -- SONGWRITERS IN THE ROUND
----------------
WHERE: AS220, 115 Empire Street, Providence, RI
WHEN: 8-10 pm [NOTE UNUSUAL TIME]
COVER: $5

Chuck Williams, John Fuzek, Kim Jennings, and I will be playing four original songs each, with the third being a theme chosen by the previous month's audience: "Didn't We Just Fix That?" It's always fun to see how different people interpret the theme and I'm looking forward to it -- I'm still figuring out my own approach right now!

Note that Songwriters in the Round has been pushed back to 8 pm (normally it starts at six).

So that's what I've got for the next few weeks. If you can't make it to any of those shows, then hopefully I'll see you around another time. Have a good weekend!

Thanks,
Jacob Haller
