This was, weirdly enough, a plot point in the comic book story of 
"Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #60" (Oct. 1965), in which an 
attempted time trip by Superman goes awry because "Due to a change in 
Earth's rotation after 5,000 years, the calendar will change by half 
a day," causing him to arrive too late to perform an intended rescue.
