Questionnaire on time metrology, including leap seconds in UTC

Dear Colleagues,

The Consultative Committee for Time and Frequency (CCTF) has prepared a
questionnaire concerning many important issues of time metrology, in
particular the time difference between UTC and UT1, and is thus of
primary importance for IERS. To make sure that the needs and wishes of
astro-geodetic community are integrated into the general debate, you are
strongly invited to respond to this questionnaire.

The four hot topics under debate are:

1. Updating the Roadmap for the redefinition of the second
2. Leap seconds in UTC - building a consensus for a continuous timescale
3. Promoting the mutual benefit of UTC and GNSS
4. Sharing resources to improve international timekeeping

Introduction letter:

Your answers, opinion and ideas are very important. They will be
carefully examined and taken into account by the CCTF in order to
provide future guidelines and recommendations. In order to make sure
that the needs and wishes of concerned institutional bodies and
stakeholder communities are integrated into the general debate, we
kindly ask you to answer this questionnaire before January 31, 2021.

Noel Dimarcq,
President of CCTF
