Universal syntax for Markdown

As the defacto maintainer of both the Pandoc bundle for TextMate and
the Pandoc plugin for Vim, I wanted to add to the discussion another
benefit of standardizing the syntax for markdown extensions: we would
only need one syntax definition for each major text editor.
