Bill Purdie, who ran the Mechanical and Operating end
of Southern's Steam Program for many years, turns 90
years of age on April 5, 2005.

A celebration is planned for him on April 10th at the
railroad museum in Duluth, Ga. from 2 until 5 PM.

I wonder if Jim Bistline knows about this event and
will be able to get down there in April?  As you may
recall, he had the title "General Manager - Steam"
during the later years of the Southern Railway's
excursion program.
