     Not true. With the advent of calling signals over the radio, when 
multiple trains were heading up the road, it was easy to figure out. 
Here is another example. When switching the southend of Glasgow, the 
control signal needed to be passed numerous times. So, we would tell the 
dispatcher that we needed to work by the signal and he dispatcher would 
put the signal on "fleet" and we had a favorable signal each time we 
needed to pass it.
