Unusual steam

Bud,
Thanks for the drawing. That's exactly what I thought. I've seen them on numerous engines but never with that type muffler. They generally shoot straight out the side perpendicular to the firebox sides. 
I never thought about a blowoff due to the location of the steam. Even with the location of the muffler it seems the steam is way back from the exit. I knew a couple engines had rear and both tender trucks with boosters but I wouldn't think they would be used on the ML like that.
