Bill,

Here are the former NW cars I know of: Photos of the ones NS still uses are on this link: https://www.altoonaworks.info/pics/ocs.html

NS 3 (Claytor Lake) is the former NW 500 (Claytor Lake).

Ex NS 4 (Lamberts Point) was the former NW 200 (Lamberts Point). It did wear NS colors for a short time before being sold.

Ex NS 5 (Roanoke) is the former NW 300 (Roanoke). It’s been procured and restored to its NW (Roanoke) appearance. Norfolk and Western Business Car 300 Preservation Society Inc. | Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/nw300.org/photos/?ref=page_internal>

NS 7 (Pennsylvania) is the former NW 100 (Pocahontas), the first all steel car NW purchased from Pullman.

Ex NS 10 (Hollins College) was the former NW 451 (Hollins College). It’s being procured to be restored to its NW (Hollins College) appearance. Norfolk and Western Business Car 300 Preservation Society Inc. | Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/nw300.org/photos/?ref=page_internal>

NS 12 (Indiana) was the former NW 450. It was originally one of the NW diner cars built by Pullman in 1949.

NS 18 (New Orleans) is the former NW 493 diner

NS 19 (Kentucky) is the former NW 494 diner
Ex NS 24 (Alta Vista) is the former NW 800 theater (track inspection) car. It eventually went to Illinois Central before being merged into CN, who I believe still operates this car.

NS 28 is the former NW 501 coach

NS 29 is the former NW 533 coach

Hopes this helps.

Fred Hill at the Coach Yard is thinking about producing Norfolk Southern Office cars in HO scale brass.

I only model the Norfolk and Western. I do not model the Norfolk Southern.

If he is going to produce Norfolk Southern Office cars, I will ask if he could consider making any earlier N&W versions.

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no knowledge of Norfolk Southern Office cars or if any were former N&W business cars. For all I know the Norfolk Southern Office cars used on inspection trips came from the Southern Railway and have no N&W heritage. Or maybe they were acquired from other sources well after 1982. At least I do know that the diesel cab units powering the NS inspection trains have no Norfolk and Western DNA.

I sure could use a list of Norfolk Southern Office cars and their previous N&W number. Pictures would also be great.

Thanks in advance.
