Well, Frank,
it seems the N&WHS (at least for me) has gotten farther away from the original intent with too many other railroads. I'm an N&W pre-1964 type and seeing pages with Blue diesels, Horseys and the post 1964 era stuff has zero appeal to me. I'm ok with Virginian but modern NS articles and photos are a waste of my time and money. Current NS happenings have no business with N&WHS and there should be another NSHS to cover that. If something doesn't directly relate to the N&W Railway it shouldn't be presented in my opinion.
I'm afraid with the Omaha Group takeover I'm going to see my $60 dues giving me lots of yellow diesels and articles rather than what I want. That would cause me to drop out and I hate that thought. I have been a member since the beginning when it was Xerox copies and appreciate all the effort and folks have put out to make it what I consider the best quality magazine of all the Societies.
The ONLY positive thing I can see/hope for is maybe they will resurrect the 1218 and 611 and operate them like the old N&W did in 1982.

Ed, Roger, and others: why?  The Norfolk and Western, the railroad for which we are enthusiasts and modelers, has been gone for 43 years. The classic Norfolk and Western, in some views, has been gone since 1964. Some would say their interest ends in 1960, when the last steam locomotive was in revenue service. Even if you dislike UP, and its boatload of predecessors, why would that reduce your interest in your railroad?
This may increase this organization's interest in what is going to be another fallen flag.  Or the UP Society May embrace them.  Let's see what happens.

Won't matter to me as that would cancel interest! I hate the Yellow Hoard!
