Matt,
I just wanted to thank you for your response to my question.
My cousin has been working for some time on a history of her branch of the family and the story took her to Kayford.
My grandfather ran the company store in Kayford for some time and my mother was born in Kayford in 1916.
My mother's oldest sibling was my cousin's grandfather (so she is actually my second cousin). At some point, her grandfather moved to Ashland, KY, hence the curiosity about rail connections between the two points.
Thanks again. All information is really appreciated.

Hey Rick,
I have a local friend that is C&O WV literate. He said the following, and will get back to me if he finds more. I don’t know if
I'll have to do some looking at my Employee Timetables for the Cabin Creek line, but I am sure they had passenger service into the early 50's. IIRC they would often use a Doodlebug on this line or a small steam locomotive like a 4-4-2, 4-6-2 or a 2-8-0

Good afternoon.
I am hoping that the group can provide some information for my cousin who is doing some family history.
Does anyone know if any railroad offered passenger service to Kayford, WV?
Kayford was a coal camp located in the Cabin Creek "hollow" not far from Charleston, WV. Since C&O had main lines that followed the Kanawha River and eventually the New River and points east, I would imagine that any passenger rail service to Kayford would be provided by the C&O. I'm confident that freight rail service was available at Kayford since the mine was large enough for the company to build the town to support the mine.
If passenger service was available at Kayford, where would exchanges take place for anyone heading for Ashland, KY?
We really appreciate any information that the group can provide.
Thanks.
