Alex,
Let me thank you again for all your information. I have been going back
through pertinent sections of BDC and WV and I find very little about Ruth,
at the East end of the first Elkhorn tunnel. Ruth is listed in time tables
and you place it at the turnout where the old line up MIll Creek joined the
low-grade line. This would be in the same vicinity as the Sterling and
East mines, I believe. Was there a community there serving miners or
anyone else for that matter? Was there a station or company store there to
facilitate passenger/freight service to this location. Any other
information on Ruth would be greatly appreciated, particularly pointers to
any photos not published in your previously mentioned works.
Thanks anew,
Jim
