*Residential Home Based Businesses:*

Home based businesses located in residential areas will be allowed to 
return to St. Bernard along with businesses located in commercial 
areas.  In order to qualify, the home based business must:

1.    Register VIA email using the same procedure that is detailed in 
Press Release issued yesterday, 9/13/05 at 10:00 PM CST,

2.    Be a legitimate business, holding a valid Occupational License,

3.    Not be in the oil spill area as detailed in the diagram below, and

 

*Businesses Return in Droves:*

Please be patient with the registration process for St. Bernard 
Businesses.  Over 350 requests to return have been processed and there 
is a list of another 350 requests to be processed.  The requests are 
being processing as quickly as possible.  You may not receive your email 
confirmation immediately, however, requests will be processed and 
confirmations issued as quickly as possible.

 

*EPA/DEQ Testing of Oil Spill Area and Silt Residue:*

Several samples of residue have been collected from the area identified 
as part of the oil spill as well as many other parts of the parish.  The 
samples are being tested by the EPA and DEQ.  The preliminary results 
show that there is reason to be cautious and take precautions when 
handling the substances; however, there is no reason to panic.

 

If the recommended precautions are followed, there should be no danger 
when working around the residue.

 

Final results of the testing will be posted here as soon as they are 
available.
