I worked at the Corps of Engineers for two years and remember a conversation
with some of the older engineers about the MRGO. I remember one saying that
they would prefer to NOT have to dredge the MRGO. It takes a lot of money
and the money could be better used elsewhere.

I whole-heartedly agree that the MRGO needs to be shutdown and left for the
marshes to reclaim---if that is at all possible at this point considering
all the damage. I grew up in Chalmette and remember, as a girl, there being
a forest of live cypress trees. Not much left at all anymore--a few sticks
it seems. I think St. Bernard is in for more trouble if something isn't
done to correct the mistake of the MRGO.
