I talked with Councilman Craig Tafaro this evening and he stressed that St.
Bernard Parish is NOT closing to residents and there are no plans to close
the parish to residents.

With that said, he did mention that there will be stricter guidelines to
enter and exit the parish. The security guards at all entrances and exits to
the parish will be checking I.D.'s to ensure that only St. Bernard residents
or contractors with legal business in the parish are allowed in.

With Orleans Parish opening up to practically the entire population, this is
being done as a safety pre-caution for the residents of St. Bernard Parish.

The Council is also working with the local media to try and set a specific
date and time every week for a parish representative to give an update on
progress being made in St. Bernard. Once that is hopefully set in the next
few days, he will let us all know.

Again, make note of the new web site for official statements from Parish
government -
