* * * If you're in St. Bernard today (Wednesday, October 19), don't forget
to stop by the Joint Senate and House Subcommittee meeting at the St.
Bernard Council Chambers beginning at 10:00 am and lasting until approx.
4:00 pm. Representatives from most of our major parish departments &
agencies will be reporting to the gathered state legislators on:  (1) the
current post-Katrina status of the agency and (2) the future legislative
needs for the agency as it relates to the forthcoming special sessions of
the Louisiana legislature.
 
* * * According to the Times-Picayune, volunteer members of the Young
Lawyers Division of the Louisiana State Bar Association will provide free,
disaster-related legal assistance to individuals affected by Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita.  Call the hotline 1-800-310-7029 between the hours of 8am
to 8pm, 7 days a week, for more information, and a licensed Louisiana
attorney will contact callers within 48 hours.
