Marvin,
I was forced to relocate from my beloved St. Bernard 1 1/2
years ago. I think that the residents of Chalmette should
take every advantage to rebuild the city again. With that
being said, here's my two cents-which is about what I have
in my pocket right now! LOL

1) Enough of the diners and cafes!! Please get franchised
name restaurants. Applebees, Chili's, Ruby Tuesdays, etc...
I realize home cooked food is what makes St Bernard unique,
but man the area was getting saturated with them!

2) Shopping mall would do wonders-how much of our tax
dollars do you think were lost by people going to shop in
Metairie or Kenner? Give people another option! Wal-Mart is
not what I classify as upscale shopping!

3) A Riverwalk is a great idea. Benches, covered stage
area(similar to Torres Parks), pavillions,...

4) You gotta have something for the kids in the parish to
do. A family fun center(go karts, game room, party room,
putt putt) would go a long way. My kids always said that
was missing in Chalmette.

5) Eliminate Section 8 housing in the Business area of our
parish. Et Al -Village Square...'nuff said there. Drugs
have no place in the commerce area. Why should people
afraid to be mugged walking to their cars after eating
dinner or shopping?

I feel you guys are on the right track to rebuild a better
St. Bernard than I left. I hope and pray that all works out
in the end.

Bob Nores
