Update From State Representative Nita Rusich Hutter

House Concurrent Resolution No. 4 was recently signed by the Speaker of
the House and the President of the Senate.  HCR 4 memorializes congress to
create the National Wind Insurance Program.  Congress created the National
Flood Insurance Program in 1968 in response to the rising cost of
taxpayer-funded disaster relief for flood victims and the increasing
amount of damage caused by floods.  In the wake of the widespread damage
and devastation caused by recent hurricanes, it is only appropriate that
congress consider a similar program for wind insurance.
