Tony,

Thanks for responding. Sounds like you get an award for the most crap from
Allstate. It is an absolute shame that we must fight for what we are due. As
far as needing to fix your house and then they will pay-DO NOT DO IT!
Because then they will say that you did not use a contractor from "their
list, therefore, you cannot be paid". This comes from a family member who
removed 5 trees from his house to prevent further interior damage. He is a
licensed contractor, but Allstate who't pay because he is not a contractor
on their list. What a line of crap!! What kind of response, if any, have you
had with the Insurance Commissioner's office? I hope that everyone who works
for Allstate suffers some kind of tragedy in their personal lives to get an
idea of what we have been through. I too will switch from Allstate once I
can. I just pray that my house burns to the ground from lightening so I can
collect more from the @#!^& comp any!
I'm glad that there are people like us out there who are willing to ent
openly. Why suffer alone!
Take care and good luck to you.

Julie

Julie:

I feel your pain. I have been battling with Allstate since the day of the
storm. They have been absolutely horrible. I finally did get my flood
structure and contents checks about a week and a half ago. I recieved my
homeowners structure check just a couple of days ago, after they attempted
to send the check to my now destroyed home on Patricia. I can't tell you
how many times I gave them my new mailing address. I haven't yet received
my homeowners contents check, so I called to check on it and guess where
they mailed it?... That's right, Patricia Street again.

Now get this... My fiance has very little wind damage,(she has State Farm,
by the way) and the back half of my home was blown completely down with
shingles missing, vent stacks off, etc., Guess who got a much higher
settlement. I'm not a contractor but can tell you I have alot of wind
damage and they hardly paid out anything. They even had the nerve to pull
my claim from my adjuster after my adjuster looked at the house with me and
wrote the claim up showing substantial wind damage. I was assigned a new
adjuster who I could never get in touch with, who never came to look at my
house, who never mailed me his adjustment estimate, all he did was rewrite
the estimate from California and state that I very little wind damage. When
I questioned Allstate on this, they said I was receiving the minimum they
were paying on all homeowners claims and if I didn't agree with the
settlement, I had to hire at my expense, a contractor and engineer to give
me an estimate of the wind damage
and submit that estimate to them. Allstate would review it and if they
thought the estimate was valid, they MIGHT pay more, but ONLY if I repaired
the property. My property can't be repaired, it has to be bulldozed. I
received a 3 rating with 60-100% damage.

So I say *&^% Allstate, I may have to use them in the short term for
insurance on a new home, but when more companies start writing, I will NEVER
use Allstate again. I have heard nothing but complaints about that company.

Just venting.... THANKS!
-Tony

P.S. FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THEM WITH THE INURANCE COMMISSIONERS OFFICE,
I'VE FILED A FEW.
