For those who remember Fr. Alan Weseman from St. Mark Church, the following
was printed in the Slidell Sentry-News, recapping locals who passed away in
2005.

The Rev. Alan R.Weseman, pastor of St. Anselm Catholic Church, died from
cancer Aug. 10 at his Madisonville home.

After ordination in 1986, Rev. Weseman served as parochial vicar at Our Lady
of the Lake church parish in Mandeville; in 1992 he became pastor of St.
Mark parish in Chalmette; and in 1996, he was appointed to St. Anselm parish
in Madisonville, where he remained pastor until his death. He also served on
several archdiocesan committees and was chaplain for St. Scholastica Academy
in Covington.

Marguerite Celestin, director of SSA and principal during his work there,
remembered Weseman as a great man and very unique person people could easily
relate to. "He was a beloved friend, and his passing will be a great loss to
the community," Celestin said.

"Father Alan was a spiritual advisor and mentor to us for many years," she
said. "He had a great, practical spirituality about him and a down to earth
personality that enabled him to minister to people with great wisdom. His
keen sense of humor inspired you because he was such a real person."
