Two original messages:
And maybe those people that you think are sitting down on the job can
be
hired by the new service. People who have worked for, us on our postal
routes for years will be losing their jobs because they have no routes
to
deliver too. It will probably go by seniority and our loyal people who
delivered our mail and are close to retirement will lose it all,
because
they will only need a few to handle our service when they move back to
St
Bernard.

Jim,
You're right about people sitting around at the post office, but why
would
someone want to rent a box when I believe you can just pick it up for
nothing.
Want to talk about a pitiful post office?
My wife and I received our first forwarded mail Saturday and Tuesday.
We
received one letter Saturday and over 30 pieces Tue sday. We came to
Metairie
in October and the supervisor claimed they weren't receiving any mail
so
they were only delivering 2 or 3 days a week. Now they say they're
flooded
with mail and just can't get it all out.Bull!!!
That is one thing I miss about Chalmette. We had an excellent carrier
named
Kenny and the postmaster was always attentive to your needs or
complaints.
But anytime you want to change addesses or file a complaint,or anything
to
do with the post office go to the USPS website.

Sue,
My intent in my posting was to question what, exactly, the personnel would
be *doing* there. I'm not wishing or hoping any one gets laid off or
anything else.
I was trying to comment on how easy it **should** be to rent boxes. I had a
box at Meraux for yea rs and knew the employees and Ronnie well. My mom and
dad had a box at Violet and knew those folks.

For David J,
I guess, yes, you could pick up the mail via General Delivery the way you
described. But, you have to go during the hours someone is there go give
you the mail.

The entire situation with the mail post-K was screwed and tatooed. As soon
as we got to Alabama I put in changes of address for our PO Box and the
house address. That was when mail was being held in Covington. I know
there was mail we never got because other people up here got the Entergy and
Atmos statements; we never did.

General Comment:
I was just saying that if they don't have "retail" capability then, what
will they be doing exactly? If they can't rent boxes then I guess they
can't sell stamps either due to the lack of retail capability.

Large government agencies and sometimes large corporations sometimes have
trouble thinking *outside of the box*. And how well we know that now about
large government agencies, yes?

Mine were just a few comments based upon the message by the original poster
of that message about the post office. There may be more to the situation
than was explained. I was just going on the info that was provided.
