New U.S. Hurricane Crisis Portal Makes Disaster Relief Easier;
Behind-the-Scenes Developer Uses Web Conferencing to Create Government
Website in Five Days

The Hurricane Crisis Web Portal shows the nature of the devastation of
hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. This new Web site may be used for future
hurricane disaster relief, clean-up and re-construction.

Grand Ledge, MI (PRWEB) January 18, 2006 -- A new Hurricane Crisis Web
portal now helps all national and local government agencies coordinate
disaster relief, clean-up and re-construction. The Website has proved
invaluable during recent hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. It will also
help in future hurricane disasters. The Website
(http://www.hurricaneimagery.org) allows officials, workers and the public
to toggle between pre-hurricane street maps and post-hurricane satellite
imagery for a specific location. Users can also blend the two, overlaying
the satellite images atop a street map to identify a location that otherwise
would be unrecognizable.

Another behind the scenes hero, IDV Solutions, Grand Ledge, Michigan played
a relief role as well, creating the Hurricane Crisis web portal at the
request of Microsoft and the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA)
in just five days, thanks to Microsoft Live Meeting Web conferencing.

"Web conferencing sped the development of the Website," said Ian Clemens,
CIO, IDV Solutions. "Hundreds of decisions about site controls, tools,
displayed data and ease-of-use had to be made very quickly among dozens of
team members. The result was a Website that helps all current and future
hurricane victims."
