Let me recommend either:

Carruba Engineers  (504) 888-1490  or

The price will vary depending on how much of an analyis needs to be
performed to make a professional determination.  However, I  have heard it
could typically run from a few hundred dollars to nearly a thousand - in
some cases perhaps a little more.  Still, this is more than worth it when
you consider a wrong guess on your part could cost you tens of thousands of
dollars down the road or even cost you your life should your roof fall in on
you at some point in the future.  Contractors do know a lot, but they're not
engineers - and most good contractors I know won't want to make that call
just due to the liability question if they're wrong.

Hire an engineer - let them assume the liability if they're wrong.
